First order of apples placed on Smartmele’s own platform processed

As agreed, 44 weeks after the contract was signed, the shipment left for Kuwait

Saluzzo (CN), 19 October 2022 – eVISO S.p.A. (EVS.MI) – a digital company, listed on the EGM, with a proprietary artificial intelligence infrastructure that creates value for consumers and recurring producers of raw materials – following its announcement on 21 December 2021 (link), informs that the first order of apples traded on SmartMele (smartmele.eviso.it), a platform developed by eVISO dedicated to trading in the apple market with deferred delivery over time to 3/6/12 months (and beyond), destination Kuwait, was processed today.

The contract was signed in December 2021 with a delivery deadline in October 2022, exactly 44 weeks after the order, as required by the agreement.

Gala, extra fancy, mix sized are the types of apples selected for the first order processed by the SmartMele Platform. The customer, eight weeks before delivery in the “logistic time” (time for planning and logistics) requested two extra services through the platform: stickers and waxing of the individual fruits. Finally, before shipment, a quality control technician followed the standard procedures according to the “datasheet” of the quality characteristics agreed between buyer and seller on the date of the order.

Gianfranco Sorasio, CEO of eVISO, stated: “We are proud to announce the first shipment, which took place on schedule. With the experience of this first delivery, it is clear to us that planning will be a benefit to the entire supply chain in the future. Until yesterday, operators mainly made spot and on-demand purchases; now, thanks to the eViso platform, those who buy or sell apples can access a market regulated by certain and shared information. This allows, on the one hand, to independently formulate their final decisions regarding commodity trading and, on the other hand, allows eVISO to obtain, as indicated by the revenue model, a compensation consisting of a membership fee, called a phase up fee, and an amount related to the single transaction based on the kilograms of goods sold and purchased entered in the marketplace. The challenges of the coming months will see us working on the one hand to increase the number of users on the platform, both buyers and sellers of apples; on the other hand we will work on the digital operation of the platform, to ensure speed and efficiency on a large scale”.

The SmartMele portal was launched in February 2021 and in its first year has completed the numerous “Data Visualization” sections, collecting and organizing relevant information on apples from all over the world: this is a market worth $87 billion worldwide. eViso continues the development of the apple market under the strategic agreements with Borsa Merci Telematica Italiana (Italian Telematic Freight Exchange – BMTI), which recognized the company as a partner in August 2021 (LINK), and with Fondazione di Ricerca Agrion – Centro di Ricerca della Regione Piemonte in September 2021 (LINK).
